Would you like a career in an international
company? Do you like speaking foreign languages?
Do you have good written and oral skills in
English? Are you keen to accept a challenge? If
the answer is YES, then HES School of Economics
and Business in Amsterdam can help you turn
these wishes into reality by offering you two
Bachelor Degree programmes taught entirely in
English: International Business and Management
Studies, International Financial Management.
HES School of Economics and Business (HES) is an
institute of Hogeschool van Amsterdam which has
a number of institutes covering different
disciplines. Studying at HES means living in the cultural
and commercial capital of the Netherlands.
Amsterdam is not as impersonal as many bigger
cities can be, yet it has an unmistakable
cosmopolitan aura combined with a relaxed and
friendly atmosphere. Studying at HES also means
studying at one of the largest Business Schools
in the Netherlands comprising 10,000 students
and operating since 1867.
The two programmes entirely taught in English
have a total of 1,500 students from over 30
different countries and an international
teaching staff. Included are support courses
such as foreign languages, law and cultural
awareness. The programmes prepare you for an
international business career in middle and
higher management positions.
Upon graduation Hogeschool van Amsterdam
students have not only acquired subject
knowledge and applied knowledge, they are also
capable of investigating problems and developing
their knowledge independently. They have gained
the social and communication skills which are
essential to being successful in their
professional careers. The Hogeschool van
Amsterdam has a strong local and regional base.
Our solid contacts with employers in the region
guarantee an inspiring working environment for
our graduates. We have long-established links
with institutions abroad and enjoy close
relationships with the organisations that employ
our graduates.
Courses: International Business and
Management Studies & International Financial
Management.
The courses taught in both programmes during the
first semester are similar. You will learn about
all the subjects covered in our two
international programmes, which will enable you
to make the right choice for you, after the
first semester.
International Business and Management Studies:
The curriculum concentrates on international
marketing and trade, export management and
business development. In the first year the
focus is on establishing and running a company
and on globalisation. In the main phase, you
learn to manage a company that has to perform on
an international playing board and outsmart
competition all over the world. The programme
concentrates on cross cultural management.
International Financial Management: A
full and varied curriculum concentrates on
financial accounting and business
administration. The first year is centred around
a set of crucial management skills in the field
of international finance. In the main phase you
learn how to manage the financial resources of a
company and will, therefore, be at the heart of
business decision making. For all programmes a
substantial part of the study is spent abroad.
There is a mandatory exchange programme at one
of our 100 partner institutes worldwide.
Furthermore, your company placement should also
be undertaken abroad. The last semester of the
fourth year is partly used to write a final
dissertation.
Educational system: There are two types
of higher education institution in The
Netherlands: universities and hogescholen (HBO).
Hogescholen prepare students for specific
professions at Bachelor level and tend to be
more practically oriented than universities,
where the focus is on theory and the generation
of knowledge through research.
Accommodation: We do our best to provide
accommodation to international students on our
English-taught programmes. |
