Rangi Ruru Girls' School is one of New Zealand's top achieving schools, offering independent Intermediate (Year 7 and 8) and Secondary (Years 9 to 13) education for Day and Boarding students. New Zealand's national qualification for secondary school learners is the National Certificate of Educational Achievement - NCEA. Internatonal students are welcome.

International students who do not have English as their first language will usually be asked to sit an assessment test in Christchurch, to determine whether they are ready to study in mainstream classes. All international students are mainstreamed and they must have the English skills to cope with classroom and homework tasks. Note: Entry to senior classes (Years 11-13) requires a higher level of English than entry to junior classes.
