Oracle Certification Training - Career Options

software. Oracle is used in almost all huge

manufacturing, and government bodies.
Oracle certifications can help you

Certification shows a level of experience and
expertise recognised throughout the IT industry.
Oracle certifications are available in the
following areas:
• Oracle Database Operator (DBO)
• Oracle Certified Associate (OCA)
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
• Oracle Certified Master (OCM)
• Internet Application Developer (Release 6 or
6i)
• Oracle Java Developer (JDEV)
What it involves:
Oracle exams are a combination of multiple choice questions and computer simulations where you have to match the solution to the question and fill in the missing text. You need to attend training courses for both the OCP and OCM exam. All other certifications may be awarded without attending training courses but if possible it is recommended to attend a relevant course.
During the exams you may skip difficult questions and review them at the end. The
Oracle exams are not scored negatively so you are better off taking a guess if unsure about the answer than leaving unanswered. If you don’t pass the exam you can repeat after 30 days and up to a maximum of three times in any one year. On completion of the exam you will be given feedback on each module indicating any area that may need extra attention.
Career Opportunities:
Completing the Oracle Certifications encourages career progression from junior levels up. It is a good way to validate the skills you will have learned through experience and progress to the next level. The Database operator exam is aimed at junior support staff who assist the Database Administrator (DBA) in carrying out some duties e.g. startup, shutdown, backup and recoveries. The Oracle Certified Associate would work more closely with the Database Administrator while Oracle Certified Professionals would have proven experience of managing large scale databases or developing enterprise wide applications.
Further Study:
Oracle Certified Master (OCM) is the highest level of Oracle Certification you can earn. OCM’s are generally senior members of IT departments and are responsible for managing live database systems and applications. |
