This program trains you in t  he skills and knowledge necessary to work in a pharmacy environment in various health care settings. This program will prepare you to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in community pharmacies and retail environments. Emphasizing a customer-centered approach, this program also helps develop the proper attitude and sense of responsibility necessary for success in pharmacy career fields.
Typical duties of a Pharmacy Technicians include for example; filling prescriptions, counting pills, measuring medications, labeling products, providing patients with background information regarding their medications, verifying prescriptions, maintaining patient records, organizing insurance information, and performing clerical duties as necessary.
Pharmacy Technician Diploma - Retail Program:
This comprehensive program prepares individuals to achieve competency in the skills and theoretical knowledge necessary to enter the pharmacy environment as a Pharmacy Technician - Retail. Typical duties of a Pharmacy Technician in Retail include preparing medication for dispensing; preparing aseptic products; compounding pharmaceuticals; inventory control; purchasing; merchandising; record keeping as required under such acts as the Food and Drug Act; narcotics control; third party billing; pre-packing pharmaceuticals; drug distribution; computer processing; and other clerical duties as necessary.
