Established in 1985, System Language School is a leading Portuguese language school in the beautiful coastal city of Maceio in the northeast region of Brazil. Maceio is just 1.5 hours flight from the capital Brasilia, and 2.5 hours flight from Rio de Janeiro. We offer high-quality group Portuguese courses and private instruction to students (ages 18+) from around the world of all levels - from total beginner to advanced. We also offer language tuition in Spanish, French and English.
We have designed our own methodology for teaching Portuguese to foreigners, focusing on the specific needs our students have when starting to study, work and live in Brazil. All our Portuguese teachers are native speakers with long experience in teaching Portuguese to foreigners.
Strong emphasis is placed on the cultural aspect of the course through participation in cultural events, excursions, and extra activities, enabling clients not only to study the language but also to apply what has been learnt immediately. Our group courses have a maximum of 6 students and are focused mainly on conversation and task based activities. Most of the class time is conducted in Portuguese.

Our school is conveniently located in the business center of Rio, with easy access via public transportation to any place in the city. The brand new facilities offer comfortably furnished and well-equipped classrooms with DVD players & TVs. Students also have access to phone and fax services, as well as e-mail & free Internet. The central location allows students to leave for a walk after class to the historical center of the city. Our location is also great for "Live Portuguese" classes. In these classes, students carry out everyday tasks in Portuguese.

If you are interested to stay in the Brazilian mountains, in a less touristy but very authentique city you should consider Teresópolis. If you go for the beach then our new school in Rio das Ostras could be what you are looking for.
