Do you want to speak more English outside of class? Do you like chatting with people from different countries and cultures? Well, you're in luck! GEOS is offering weekly free lessons, hosted by a GEOS Instructor, where students of all levels can participate in discussions on a variety of topics such as music, movies, art, SF life, night clubbing, cooking, and much more. It's not as serious as it sounds-these sessions will also include games like Charades and Pictionary where you can use your English skills as well as get a chance to show off your acting!

Movie Screening-Acting and Discussion
California is the home of Hollywood, so why not join us at GEOS for free weekly movie screenings! You can learn and be entertained when you watch the best of English-language cinema with us. During the film, a GEOS instructor will go over dialogue, phrases, slang words, and idiomatic expressions that might be unfamiliar to non-native English speakers. You can learn to talk like a movie star! After the screening, you and other fellow students can act out scenes from the movie and discuss your reactions and opinions about the film. Don't forget to bring some popcorn to share.

Outdoor Activities
Every Friday afternoon the school also arranges outdoor activities for students. One of our faculty will lead students out to explore the famous spots in/near the city; all students need to do is just pay for the public transportation fare and we will take care of the rest! The most popular places include Fisherman’s Wharf, Ocean Beach, Alcatraz, Sausalito, Baseball Games at AT&T Park, and much more! Please refer to our monthly calendar for more details.

New Student Academic Counseling

During the first two weeks of study, all new students will be asked to take part in an academic counseling session with the school's academic staff. You will have the opportunity to discuss and work out any problems or concerns you may be having with your studies.

Individual Monthly Student Counseling

On the last day of each four-week session we offer our full time students individual counseling. Students will receive a report card with their grades and comments from teachers about their performance during the month. On the last day of class, each student meets one on one with their teacher for a personal counseling session. Your teacher will go over your report card with you, and give you some advice on how you can continue to improve your skills.

Accommodation - Homestay Program

The GEOS Homestay Program is intended to give visiting foreign students a first-hand experience of American culture by sharing with their host family in everyday life. As well as being able to use practical English language skills they have learned in school, it is expected that students will be able to participate in family activities for a holistic view of life in Costa Mesa. A GEOS staff member visits each of our homestay families with student's interests in mind. Our aim is to provide our students with a secure, educational, and economical environment. Our host families live in safe, comfortable neighborhoods in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
