Orita Sinclair - School Of Art And New Media:
Orita Sinclair - School of Art and New Media was established in April 2003. It is the first School in Singapore to offer the Diploma and Advance Diplomas in New Media Art and Design Communication. These programmes are offered in both full-time and part-time modes.
Situated in the historic area of Kampong Galam off Beach road, students find it conveniently located with buses, the Bugis MRT and lots of parking spaces available.
Location and Facilities:
Students will be provided a conducive environment where knowledge and ideas are shared and developed. Students will have access to three specialized studios and a multipurpose space for projects requiring larger space and flexibility. Each cohort of no more than twelve students will have a full-time lecturer in charge with five adjunct lecturers or industry consultants teaching in areas of specialization
The Front Room Gallery, a space for contemporary and new media art, is an integral part of art education at Orita.Sinclair – School of Art & New Media.
Since early 2003, the Front Room has been very active with exhibiting works of both local and international artists from the US, Australia, Serbia-Montenegro, Japan, Germany, Sweden to name a few. The Front Room also works with organizations such as the National Arts Council, the Japan Cultural Centre, Goethe Institut, Singapore International Film Festival.
The Front Room Gallery was established as a teaching space that would contribute to Singapore’s versatile Art scene by exhibiting works of well known and recognized local and international artists in Visual and New Media Arts as well as support and encourage young artists from Singapore.
The main objective is to create an exhibition space with an open concept where the audience can fully appreciate the exhibition.
The Front Room Gallery at the School of Art & New Media is ideally located in the beautiful conservation area of Kampong Glam and the modern environment of Beach road.
