King's College is a co-educational day and
boarding school for children from the age of 18
months to 18 years. Founded in 1969, King's
College is the largest British school in Spain
and the first to have had full UK accreditation
through the Independent Schools Inspectorate. It
is a modern purpose-built school set in a 12
acre site, surrounded by countryside but well
connected to Madrid. With 1,450 pupils of 38
nationalities, the school has a complement of
over 100 fully qualified teachers. All academic
staff have British qualifications, except the
Spanish teachers and some who teach modern
languages. The average length of stay of the
staff is over 9 years.
King's College Residence offers recently
refurbished boarding facilities for boys and
girls over the age of 11. It is located on two
floors of the west wing of the building in Soto
de Viñuelas and has a capacity for up to 60
pupils between single and shared rooms (maximum
three pupils per room). Boys and girls are
accommodated on separate floors.
At present the Residence includes pupils from
the UK, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania and
Germany, China and New Zealand, as well as
students from expatriate families living in
Spain. Resident students enjoy access to many of
the sports facilities after school and at the
weekend. Barbecues and picnics, trips to
amusement parks, as well as visits to places of
interest such as El Escorial, Segovia and
Toledo, all form part of the regular programme
of organised weekend activities.
