Edu-Culture International (ECI)
Edu-Culture International (ECI) is a non-profit educational organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area of California with offices
in the USA and Europe. ECI’s unique language-immersion, study-abroad,
and travel programs take place in Spain, France,
and Costa Rica. Our summer study abroad and exchange programs in Spain for high school students include intensive Spanish classes, daily activities and up to a week of travel within Spain. The teen study trips are based in Salamanca, San Sebastian, Granada or Nerja (on the Mediterranean coast). ECI's pre-college Spanish language programs provide unique opportunities for teenagers to lstudy Spanish in Spain during the summer and offer the choice of staying with host families or in university-style dormitories. ECI’s University Credit Option is an invaluable asset in today’s competitive realm of higher education. It gives high school students the opportunity to earn 3 semester units of Spanish through an accredited US university. These credits are transferable to any university, and are accepted by most accredited universities in the United States.

Metáfora Art School in Barcelona, Spain
Metáfora is an international art school for
adult students, situated
in an old factory building in the centre of
Barcelona, capital of the Catalan region in
Spain, on the northeast Mediterranean coast.
Metáfora is an international centre of
Contemporary Art and Art-therapy, offering
courses and activities of both disciplines.
Students come from many different countries,
with an average of 28-29 students each year. Our Students are expected to posses a large amount of self-discipline and maturity, as well as some basic knowledge regarding different techniques. Because of the way we teach at Metáfora, this course should not be considered ‘beginners' level. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, but we expect them all to have some previous experience from other art courses. Teaching on this course is in English, although most tutors also speak Spanish. On
completing the Summer Intensive participants receive a Diploma of attendance, as well as a brief statement
concerning his/her development, and the character
of the works produced.

The Summer Workshop: The Metáfora Summer Intensive 2008 is a 2-week studio-based contemporary art program in English, created for students and professionals from the fields of art and design. The idea behind this workshop is to create an international atmosphere where each participant is provided with time for reflection and self-definition. Students are divided into groups, according to their area (“Pictorial
processes and Mixed Media” - different styles
and ways of working with painting, and “Object &
Space” - sculpture and other 3d work.). Through
tutorials, interviews and technical advice, we
help each student formulate his/her art project. |
