Summer Art School Programs in Italy
 The International Summer Academy for Creative Arts and Media Technology in Venice, Italy is a combination of academic studies and an open academy. The courses are offered for postgraduate students of European universities as well as for applicants without any higher education enrollment. The uniqueness of the summer academy in Venice is the concept of small, specialized classes with the possibility to combine them. All courses include a training module for beginners providing techniques and skills with most recent didactic methods.
All courses and diplomas are accepted by universities and can count towards your degree. This way, it combines a creative level with open accessibility. Courses take place parallel to the Venice Biennale, which will also influence the program. The fact that the art studios, the accommodation and the meals are all located in the same building contributes to a unique working environment at the summer academy.Courses
Program 2007: June 24 - July 14, 2007, The language of the courses are English and German.
- Architectural experiment: This class offers the very rare chance to elaborate on a creative building design and put it into reality in the scale 1:1. It is not the plan which matters, it is working in reality and developing the design during building.
- Sculpturing: The basis of most sculptural concerns is the human figure. This course concentrates on figure modeling and historical overview of figurative sculpture with the emphasis on the 20th century art. This course is designed to accommodate all levels from beginners to advanced students with a variety of backgrounds. Primary material is clay.
- Painting: The human body in movement, action painting, studies, video recordings, still photos, paintings, 10 minute studies and movement, making clay models and sketches, scene pictures. This course is specifically designed for students without any kind of practice in painting as well as for more experienced students. The training is held on the newest didactic experience: starting with portrait, the human body, movement and space, colours and strategic use of different painting techniques.
- Video: During the first week the training of stage setting, camera guidance and praxis of filming is started. The second week includes training with electronic devices of software and cutting. The third week will show how to develop the script and start a whole film.
- Creative Writing: At the beginning of Creative Writing we are confronted with the question, if I am able to get the story within me on to paper and if this at the end will also interest other people. It is possible to learn to write!
- Photography: The Course Photography and digital Imageprocessing will be held from June 24th to July 4th by Friedl Kubelka and from July 5th to July 14th by Sissa Micheli.
