 Life in Portland:

Life in PortlandPortland is a beautiful, very clean and safe city.  Portland has a great bus and light-rail train system; you do not need a car to enjoy Portland. It is easy to visit the mountains and the beach from Portland. Portland has all the big city activities like concerts and sporting events, but it has a small town feel because it is friendly and so easy to get around. Students love Oregon, which is world famous for its natural beauty, variety of activities and events, and friendly people.

At our school we plan events and activities so that students can enjoy the many benefits of Portland life, such as skiing and snowboarding on Mt. Hood, field trips to the Oregon Coast and other fun locations, as well as Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas parties.

The Portland English Language Academy (P.E.L.A) helps international students with housing in 2 ways: 1) we can reserve a room in our Student House for you, or  2) we can arrange a Homestay for you.  In the Student House, you will share a big house with other international students enrolled in PELA. We carefully choose our homestay families and we find the family that is the best match for you. All of our families are friendly and kind. They have clean, safe houses, and they are eager to open their homes to you.
