International House New York, like the IH World Organization, was founded by two highly experienced teachers and teacher trainers, Ryan Horsnail and Tasha Hacker.

The founders' strong beliefs in maintaining the highest standard of language teaching and teacher training led them to join the International House World Organization. They wanted to be part of an organization that upholds the same professional values and high standards for education and training, and therefore they are proud to be IH New York.

Our St. John's University Manhattan campus not only provides first-rate facilities, ideal for students with its ample computer labs, expansive library space, lounge areas, cafeteria and modern classrooms, but outside its doorstep is one of Manhattan's most desirable neighborhoods: TriBeCa, home of the TriBeCa Film Festival, which offers up some of the city's most talked-about restaurants and bars, fashion boutiques, river views and celebrity homes.

Our courses are group classes acknowledging individual student needs. The content is designed to promote maximum communication and fluency practice while also teaching skills, vocabulary and grammar. You will learn the key grammar of the language as well as essential vocabulary. Courses also cover practice in all four skill areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing; however, you will find that there is a great deal of focus on speaking and listening, in order to boost your ability to communicate effectively.
