New York Military Academy:
Nestled in the Hudson Highlands, 55 miles north of New York City, New York Military Academy has a proud 118 year history as a leading college preparatory school with a military tradition. The academy enrolls students from the tri-state metro New York area, around the country and the world; the mix is diverse and cosmopolitan. The Academy's mission is to develop cadets with academic, athletic, character and leadership skills to prepare them not only for college, but also for life as effective leaders and responsible citizens. With this mission as a guide, New York Military Academy (NYMA) cadets obtain the inherent strength, exceptional values, and unique character that set them apart from peers at both private and public secondary schools.
Location and Facilities:
NYMA’s convenient location, just one hour north of New York City and the major NY metropolitan airports, makes it accessible by plane, train or automobile. The campus is at the foot of the Storm King Mountain, and poised just above the Hudson River, affording it a spectacularly beautiful and bucolic location, but within reach of the cultural offerings of New York City.
Interscholastic Sports: NYMA offers 16 varsity, four junior varsity and three modified athletic teams that compete interscholastically in the following sports: soccer, football, cross country, and volleyball in the fall; basketball, swimming, and wrestling in the winter; and, baseball, softball, track tennis, golf, lacrosse, drill, rifle and Raiders (military skills competition) in the spring. The Academy is a member of the New England Prep School Athletic Association. Teams compete in the Western New England Prep School League and the Hudson Valley Athletic League.
