The Storm King School:
The Storm King School is a coeducational college preparatory school. Storm King enrolls 77 Boarders and 32-day students in grades 9-12. The school is located near the crest of Storm King Mountain on the west bank of the Hudson River, about. 50 miles north of New York City, in scenic Eastern Orange County. The 65-acre campus offers a serene setting and a magnificent view, including a sweeping bend of the river, the Shawangunk Mountains, and the distant Catskills. The 3,600-acre Black Rock Forest, a wilderness preserved by environmentalists, adjoins the campus to the south; West Point Military Academy reservation and Bear Mountain Preserve. Within easy reach via the Palisades Parkway.

The varied college-preparatory curriculum seeks to stimulate students to stretch themselves by building on their strengths while realistically acknowledging and addressing their weaknesses. Personal growth is encouraged as well through the arts, athletics, activities (including an outdoor-environmental program) and community living. 7-1 student-faculty ratio.
The Storm King School curriculum is college preparatory, placing an emphasis upon a well-rounded education. As members of the learning community, students become increasingly involved in making decisions related to their education. Each student is given the opportunity to develop his/her own talents and independence. This development occurs in an environment characterized by a sense of self-worth, responsibility, and humor, combined with the structure needed to succeed. A close relationship between students and faculty fosters a community atmosphere conducive to learning in the classrooms, on the stage, in the dorms, and on the athletic fields.
Storm King faculty share their experience and expertise, strive to inspire, and personalize the educational process for each student. Teachers are available to students, helping those who need more of a guiding hand, and challenging those who break the confines of the syllabus. As students progress through the Storm King curriculum, increased personal responsibility results in more freedom. The result is an independent, knowledgeable, thinking, young person who has learned how to use the tools with which he/she will shape the future.
