 SFAI:

The faculty encourage students to be self-motivated and self-directed, and provide guidance and support. Artistic, personal, and intellectual development is fused so that the process of making work is a life-enriching experience and prepares students for a creative life. As an institution we continue to be innovators in the field of education. Our new Centers for Interdisciplinary Learning (Art+Science, Media Culture, Public Practice, and Word, Text) provide the framework for cross-disciplinary study, combining studio, liberal arts and art history.

As an international student applying to the BFA or MFA degree program, you should be prepared to pay for the full cost of attendance for the entire duration of your studies at SFAI. At the same time, we are committed to helping you access additional resources in order to fulfill your dream of attending SFAI. Ninety percent of our alumni who participated in a 2003 survey are either exhibiting artists or are still making art; 62% have gone on to receive their MFAs.
