Sports Administration Degree Program in Seattle, Washington
 The University of Washington's College of Education in Seattle, WA is proud to announce the new Master of Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership (IAL) beginning summer 2006. This unique 12 month degree program prepares those who aspire to leadership positions within intercollegiate sports, as well as high school athletic directors, to be effective business leaders who can meet the increasingly challenging expectations of an athletic department as well as an institute of higher education.Courses
Sports Administration Degree: The IAL program
addresses the challenges common to athletic
administration at all levels while providing a
better understanding of the role of athletics
within the educational setting. The curriculum
bridges theory with practice, drawing on the
expertise of UW faculty in the College of
Education and the School of Business, as well as
professionals from the UW athletic department
and the Seattle sports industry.
This one-year program develops the skills you
need to understand how higher education and
athletics coexist. Twelve courses (48 credits)
cover cutting-edge information in business,
financial management, strategic planning,
ethics, research and leadership.
The IAL curriculum is designed to give you the
core competencies needed for success in
intercollegiate athletic leadership roles. All
of the core competencies are derived from the
official accreditation standards of the North
American Society for Sport Management and have
been refined by members of our professional
advisory board.
