The Hockaday School:
The Hockaday School in Dallas, TX, established in 1913 by Miss Ela Hockaday and a group of concerned parents, provides an outstanding college preparatory education for girls in grades 8 through 12 (boarding); and Pre-K through 12 (day). The boarding experience at The Hockaday School is unique and unlike any other you will find. Originally founded as a boarding school, Hockaday has kept its boarding community small and intimate within a school population that has grown to over 1,000 students.

Our staff does not serve double duty as faculty members but instead are devoted 100% to their residence jobs. As a community of 73 boarders, we offer an incredible amount of diversity, representing numerous states and an average of 12 countries each year. On the other hand, our commitment to remain under 75 boarders allows us always to feel like a family and a close-knit community.
Courses:The Middle School curriculum reaches for a balance academically, socially, physically, and morally and is based on the wide variety of developmental changes found in our students between grades five and eight.
Upper School: We seek to develop young women who can help initiate and guide the direction of our rapidly changing society rather than merely respond to changes set forth by others.
Mission:The Hockaday School prepares girls of strong potential in the prekindergarten through 12th grades to assume positions of responsibility and leadership in a rapidly changing world by giving them a foundation for living grounded on the traditional Four Cornerstones: character, courtesy, scholarship, and athletics.
Within the context of an outstanding academic environment, The Hockaday School's goals are to foster a community of concern and friendship, to instill in every girl a love of learning and an understanding of herself and the ethical principles which guide her life, and to develop an appreciation of excellence in all its forms with a commitment to what is right and good.
