Institute of Technology in New Zealand
Southern Institute of Technology has a proud
history of vocational education and training.
Established as Southland Polytechnic over 30
years ago and more recently known as Southern
Institute of Technology, we provide students
with quality education across a range of subject
areas and at a variety of levels. By offering
programmes from certificate and diploma to
bachelor's degree and post graduate level you
can enter your training at the level that suits
you and progress as you are ready. With around
9,000 students, SIT is big enough to offer
variety and a student culture, yet small enough
to retain a friendly atmosphere.
Southern Institute of Technology has a main
campus in Invercargill, but also courses in
Christchurch and Gore, all on the South Island.
Although your major focus will be on your
learning, Southland provides a wealth of
recreation and leisure activities for those
"study" breaks and leisure times. Surrounded by
vast natural resources and some of New Zealand's
most spectacular tourist destinations including
Fiordland, Stewart Island, the Catlins and
Queenstown...Southland is a land of opportunity.
Invercargill offers a host of opportunities
ranging from a number of gyms and fitness
centres to the Aquatic Centre, cafes and bars, a
large number of local sporting teams including
the Southern Sting Netball and NPC Rugby teams,
beaches and rivers, shopping and entertainment
and the list could go on. But instead of just
reading about Southland and it's bountiful
opportunities, why not come to Southern
Institute of Technology and experience a
lifestyle you'll never forget.
