Technical Communication Master Degree Program
The Department of Technical Communication at the
University of Washington (UWTC) strives to equip
its students to be leaders in designing the
future of communication. You can now earn a
Master of Science in Technical Communication in
the evening on the Seattle campus of the
University of Washington. The evening master's
degree program is taught by the regular faculty
of the TC department, supplemented in a few
instances by senior professionals from the
community who hold advanced degrees. The program
is an official University of Washington degree
program and will maintain the same high
standards of quality as the master's program now
offered by the department during the day.
In UWTC, technical communicators learn to serve
as user advocates who employ user-centered
design processes and usability research methods
to ensure that communication designs meet user
needs. They also learn formal research methods
that enable them to contribute to our scientific
understanding of communication processes. UWTC
also takes a global perspective. The emerging
international information economy constantly
calls for innovations in communication design,
and students in UWTC can take part in creating
solutions to real-world global communication
challenges. There's never been a more fast-paced
and exciting time to work in our field.
Courses The Master of Science in Technical Communication (M.S.T.C.) program is designed to prepare students to assume leadership roles in the field of technical communication. It focuses on helping participants refine their skills in the design, production, and evaluation of technical information. Classes are offered in the evenings.
