Paramedic / Emergency Medical Services Training

EMT-Paramedic Program:EMT-Paramedic Course

This course fulfills all the training requirements set forth by the state for Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedics. Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to take the National Registry exam offered periodically throughout the state. This certification can lead to employment in a wide range of fields to include ambulance or fire paramedic, E.R. technician, special functions paramedic, sporting events, concerts, etc. As NCTI is owned and operated by American Medical Response, Inc. (AMR), employmeColleges & Career Trainingnt referrals are a benefit to the NCTI graduate.

EMT-Paramedic course enrollment is contingent upon satisfaction of pre-requisites and successful completion of the HOBET (Health Occupations Basic Entrance Exam) test, or appropriate equivalent. Sequence of Training (exact hours dependent upon state requirements):

Phase I - (Didactic and Lab)
500-700 Hours (approx. 7-8 months)
Typically 2 - 3 days (16-24 hours) per week

Phase II - (Clinical Rotation)
150 - 300 hours (approx. 2-3 months)
Individually, as arranged for each student at one of the acute care hospitals contracted with NCTI. Guaranteed clinical placement by NCTI.

Phase III - (Field Internship)
360-720 hours (approx. 4-6 months)
Depending on experience and performance individually as arranged for each student. Guaranteed inteColleges & Career Trainingrnship placement by NCTI if student chooses to intern with AMR or one of NCTI's contracted agencies.


EMT-Basic Course:EMT-Basic Course

This course fulfills all the training requirements set forth by the State. The EMT Basic course is a hands-on, interactive experience. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the National Registry exam. This can lead to employment in a wide range of job opportunities to include: Ambulance EMT, Fire Fighter EMT, Emergency Room Technician, Private Industry EMT, Special Events Standby EMT (sporting events, concerts, state and county fairs, etc.) and others.

During the course students are assigned to 10-12 hours of ride along with AMR ambulance crews. During these sessions students perform patient assessments, assist with patient care (including CPR, C-Spine Immobilization, airway management, etc.) and ride with the crew to deliver patients to local hospitals.


EMT-Intermediate Course:EMT-Intermediate Course (EMT-I/85 or EMT-I/99)

This course fulfills all the training requirements set forth by the state for Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediates. The EMT-I course is a hands-on, interactive experience. Upon successful completion of this course (depending upon course length) students will be eligible to take either the National Registry EMT-I/85 or EMT-I/99 exam. This can lead to employment in a wide range of opportunities to include Ambulance EMT-I, Fire Fighter EMT-I, Emergency Room Technician. Private Industry EMT-I, Special Events Standby EMT-I (sporting events, concerts, state & county fairs, etc.) and others. Certain courses in certain locations are taught in combination and students can exit early at the EMT-I/85 completion point, or continue on to the EMT-I/99 completion point, depending upon the certification level desired or required in the location where they plan to work.

During the course students are assigned to both hospital clinical shifts in the area and ambulance ride-along shifts with AMR crews. During these sessions students perform patient assessments, assist with patient care (including basic and advanced procedures) and ride with the crew to deliver patients to local hospitals.
