The field of communication science and disorders of the speech, language and hearing includes a wide range of careers, including the following:

- Speech Language Pathologist: Speech Language Pathologists also known as Speech Therapists or Speech Pathologists, work with patients with voice, swallowing, language and speech disorders. To become a Speech Language Pathologist you must complete a Master’s Degree program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).

- Speech, language and hearing scientist: Speech Language and Hearing Scientists research trends in communication sciences, and develop methods for diagnosing and treating individuals with speech, language and hearing problems.
