Title: Power Electronics EngineerLocation: Akron, OH Duration: 12 months + Required skills or background: Power electronics – switched mode power supplies Familiar with common topologies and controls, Buck, boost, flyback, forward, full-bridge, PFC, etc Familiar with all aspects of design, development and debug of switched mode power supplies including Specifying transformer requirements, working with suppliers Power component characteristics and selection – Mosfet, IGBT, capacitors, inductors, etc Calculating, estimating and measuring losses, involvement in thermal design PWM control including current mode control Closed loop voltage and current controls, including understanding of steady state and dynamic behavior Analog and digital control circuits Gate drive circuits Understanding of safety agency requirements (ex. IEC), insulation, creepage and clearance Printed Circuit Board design – should have a good understanding of proper component placement and requirements for PCB layout, must be able to provide direction to a board designer Must have ability to do lab work including building and testing prototypes Familiar with off-line SMPS in an industrial environment (230V, 460V) would be a plus Familiar with DC/AC power conversion would be a plus Familiar with Pspice, Matlab or other simulation tools would be a plus Familiar with PADS or DxDesigner would be a plus Familiar with microprocessors and ‘C’ programming language would be a plus Duties: Work as part of a team of engineers working on a new product development project Work closely and under the direction of a senior power engineer Work closely with mechanical engineers and technicians to develop and test prototypes Responsibilities will include the design, development, debug, testing and evaluation of various power conversion sub-systems and components Including from initial calculations and simulations of concepts to building and testing complete working prototypes Interested candidates please mail your resume in MS Word format to (You can apply or contact us by email using the Apply Online Box below) or About Systel - Systel Inc. is one of the leading providers of Information Technology & Engineering Services with offices distributed globally.
