 Staff Midwives - A nurse midwife is an advanced registered nurse who has experience obstetrics and works closely with an obstetrician during labor and delivery.Midwives have been a part of the birthing experience for many years. Nurse midwives work under the guidance of a physician to guide patients through the pregnancy and birthing process. The nurse midwife can work in a hospital setting or as an independent health care provider. The midwife is a registered nurse who is fully capable of administering care to a pregnant woman. Midwives can direct women to a physician when it is necessary and are available in a hospital setting. Job Duties A prestigious private hospital in Dubai, UAE is now hiring the following. You must be Western educated preferably with experience in a private hospital setting. STAFF NURSE MIDWIVES - Nurse midwives perform obstetrical examination of patients on the initial meeting and throughout the pregnancy. The patient can determine in advance the amount of involvement that a nurse midwife will have in the pregnancy. Some midwives see a patient as a part of the obstetrical team and others are the sole provider of patient care throughout the pregnancy. Nurse midwives consult with a physician on each patient. The midwife analyzes test results during the pregnancy to ensure that the baby is developing normally and the mother remains in good health. During labor, the nurse midwife provides emotional support for the mother and delivers the baby. At the mother's request, a nurse midwife may limit the use of medications and technology in the labor room to create a natural childbirth experience. A physician should be available in the event of an emergency situation. Nurse midwives are not able to perform surgery. | Skills / Industry Qualifications Required: | Compassion and a good bedside manner are necessary in the role of a nurse midwife. Midwives are expected to provide emotional support during pregnancy and delivery. A midwife must be skilled in analyzing test results to determine if problems are occurring during the pregnancy. A nurse midwife must be a registered nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing. Nurse midwives must be certified and have three to four years of experience in obstetrics.
