The Clinical Team leader (CTL) will work in the National Command Centre (i.o.w. call centre) and must be a qualified CCP/ALS paramedic. Currently the appointed CCP's are rotating through this role, but the Medical Corporation wants to appoint CCP’s/ALS qualified paramedics to permanently work as  Clinical Team.

DUTIES:
To provide assistance for the communication section based in the National Command Centre.
To take responsibility for receipt of calls from members of other public safety agencies and colleagues in health care facilities, as in relation to the transportation of critically ill patients.
To identify key information such as patient details, address and clinical condition from callers and record these in the computer-aided dispatch system.
To use algorithmic, clinical questioning to triage incoming calls to ensure the appropriate response is allocated to the call.
To communicate patient details to and from mobile CCP resources as well as hospitals and other healthcare facilities in a clear and concise manner using voice communication by phone and radio, or data transmission.
To coordinate EMS resources in their geographic area of responsibility to ensure efficient distribution in compliance with established Service Delivery Plans.
In the not so distant future the CTL will be involved with a new trauma bypass process, 12-lead ECG interpretation and transport destination decision-making, as well as allocation of critical care resources based on a new early warning score that he/she will receive from ambulance staff.

3 Years contract.

Position Requirements
Skills / Industry Qualifications Required:
South African applicants: Btech / National Diploma.
Australian and NZ applicants: Bachelor of Health in Paramedics or equivalent.
Applicants from other countries: Critical Care Paramedic or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:
Must be a CCP/ALS  qualified with at least 2 years’ experience working as a CCP/ALS paramedic.
A CCP/ALS paramedic with control centre experience are preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
High standard of English written and verbal.
Required Language Skills:
  • English - Very good
Education Level Required: Bachelor
Experience Required to qualify for consideration: 1 to 2 Years
