Our client is searching for a Director of Research and Development (R&D) for their Barcelona Office to provide technical guidance to product development ensuring sound engineering design, process and quality practices are followed. This position will oversee the planning and execution of all projects which includes balancing and coordinating priorities, assigning duties to team members and ensuring that all deadlines are met. The Director of R&D will build and lead development groups, contractors and 3rd party vendors. This position also managers the career development of the team and works collaboratively with the CTO to ensure projects are complete, delivered and supported. Responsibilities: • Provide leadership to the multiple engineering teams for all product areas • Work closely with the executive team to define product direction; including in-depth engineering analysis of current and emerging software and methodologies • Work closely with Director of Products and Director Quality Assurance to ensure development meets or exceeds customer requirements, ensuring that product designs are well document and communicated • Provide sound decision making for software engineering and product development, while being receptive to the constraints and needs of the business • Develop and execute software engineering plans, and manage software engineering schedules and resource allocation and budget. • Ensure, and create as needed, software engineering processes, practices and operations to ensure reproducible development and high quality, while keeping costs under control • Engage in hands-on, in-depth analysis, review and design of the software, including technical review and analysis of source code. | Skills / Industry Qualifications Required: | Requirements: • Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent • 10+ Years experience in progressive IT with an emphasis on leadership and planning • Ability to recruit, motivate and lead a team • Strong product development and engineering skills • Strong communications skills, both in writing and speaking. • Ability to excite and motivate employees, partner and customers with a compelling vision • Good understanding of the software business and its practices actices |
