Dean Of Engineering Programs
As a Dean of Engineering at the Academic Central Services in Abu Dhabi, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:
• Develop an annual divisional action plan by formulating goals, establishing objectives, setting priorities, and preparing budgets under the direction of the Director of Academic Services and in consultation with the Engineering Divisional Academic Team.
• Facilitate engineering related program and course development that meets the requirements of the community, students, and accrediting bodies by promoting, supporting, and monitoring the activities of the engineering divisional academic team and curriculum leaders
• Manage contracts for the development of engineering related courses and programs
• Manage accreditation procedures for engineering related programs
• Manage the development, storage, copying and distribution of common assessment instruments and descriptive documents pertaining to engineering related courses and programs
• Facilitate the process of selecting appropriate textbooks, software and other instructional resources for use in teaching
• Develop, facilitate and implement professional development activities for engineering staff that contribute to continuous quality improvement
Requirements:
• A first degree in Engineering supplemented by a Masters degree or its equivalent in a field related to educational administration (Doctorate preferred)
• Minimum five years of proven academic leadership experience in a in a tertiary or post-secondary vocational education environment
• At least three years of engineering classroom teaching experience in a relevant discipline at a college or university level
• 2 – 4 years of successful industrial or commercial experience
• Successful experience in curriculum development in a relevant discipline
• Proven track record in promoting academic standards and implementing continuous quality improvement, professional development and change initiatives to introduce and / or enhance existing practices
• Superior interpersonal, communication, team building and leadership skills to work effectively in a dynamic / cross cultural environment with an ability to adapt to change and thrive in a diversified culture is essential
