As a provider of multi-disciplined technical services to the built environment, my client is committed to design excellence in the delivery of first class solutions which combine, innovation, imagination and best practice.
Due to our rapid expansion we now require a Head of Department - Architecture to take overall responsibility and development for my clients architectural business in Doha, Qatar.
The projects are a range of residential and commercial developments to state of the art facilities being built to support landmark buildings in the local area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior/Lead Architect looking to progress to head of department or an existing Associate looking or a new challenge.
Requirements
Technical Competencies
Essential
Qualified at degree level in Architectural discipline and registered with a professional body
Minimum of 10 years experience within design consultancy environment
Experience in design and construction of projects
Capability and experience in designing to the highest international standards
Proven track record of international competition wins
Able to generate conceptual thought and lead such discussions with Clients and Staff
Capability and experience in the administration and management of staff & resources
Desirable
RIBA registered practitioner
Middle East experience
Proven track record in major project delivery ($44 million plus)

Administration and coordination of Architecture Department and integration with other disciplines
Establishment of methodologies that are Creatively, Technically and Commercially successful.
Administration of personal resources and competencies
Introduction of work practices that increase efficiency, productivity and fun
Monitoring adequacy of software and hardware resources and support
Regional support as requested
Management of inter-departmental coordination on a project basis
Business development for Doha office
Development and maintenance of relationships with key architectural clients
Evolve and support Quality Assurance and Quality Plans
Working with established HR and Recruitment processes and procedures to recruit and resource staff
Management and delivery of projects: time and cost
Championing of design excellence (leading by example)
Assembly and mobilization of architectural teams; staff deployment
