Divisional Overview
PeopleSoft Financials is CSFB's global legal and MIS reporting application. There is a single instance of PeopleSoft 8.X located in CSFB's Princeton NJ data center. The General Ledger, Asset Management, Accounts Payable and eProcurement modules are used. There are associated applications within the PeopleSoft team's responsibility: GERS, global expense recovery system, Glad, General Ledger Adjustment system, EDW, Expense Data Warehouse. These three applications are Powerbuilder/Sybase. In addition there is a large integrated global Essbase 6.X reporting environment, which is refreshed 3 times a day from the General Ledger. Also included within this responsibility is PeopleSoft ABM module, on its EPM architecture, which is used for cost allocations globally.

The application suite provides a complete legal and MIS reporting tool for all CSFB entities, in addition to transaction processing for procurement activities, including all IT procurement.



Departmental Overview

The global PeopleSoft department is split into the three major regions, Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. The Platform, Integration & Tools team (PIT) provides globally aligned services to/with internal and external PeopleSoft Clients and Support/Infrastructure Services. Due to global time zones and high-volume workload, there is a constant mix of Production & Development Lights-on technical support work. In addition there is constant business change occurring around the system that requires enhancements of existing system components. Lastly, there are specific projects within PeopleSoft and externally that have defined PeopleSoft deliverables for development in the Financials module.


Main Duties/responsibilities Of The Role:

Development Environment Management

To provide, maintain and support peoplesoft development and production environments covering the following aspects:

• Managing ORACLE instances for regular maintenance and customisations whilst liaising with DBA's
• Manage NT and UNIX software/hardware liaising with infrastructure and scheduling any maintenance (eg reboots, patches, disc config etc...)
• Scheduling, handling and customising ORACLE database refreshes for PeopleSoft developers in a timely manor
• Provide interface between developers and Oracle DBA's for support issues
• Build, support and maintain PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (PIA)
• Build, support and maintain PeopleTools TUXEDO environments and related objects on UNIX and NT
• Manage, support and maintain PeopleTools NT and UNIX codesets
• Manage, build, support and maintain peoplesoft BATCH processing codeset and environments
• Provide 1st line support to developers covering all of the above software and hardware components as well as troubleshooting workstation issues related to Peoplesoft


Production Environment Management

• Manage Princeton based HW cluster suite and liaise with NYK based infrastructure groups to schedule any maintenance/updates
• Manage Production TUXEDO n-tier processing and analyse performance reviews
• Provide 2nd line (occasional out of hours) support to production IT support covering batch issues, architecture and infrastructure items and other items relating to peoplesoft

Development duties (outside of primary role which vary among analysts)

Responsible for development, implementation, maintenance and support of technical solutions for various projects.The design, build, test, release and support the most appropriate solutions. Main focus will be on system integration where you should be able to use your in-depth and diverse technical skills. Additionally you will be responsible for documenting your solutions. Should have used a systems development methodology such as CMMI.

In order to succeed in this role you need to have several years experience in the areas of hardware, operating systems and middleware in medium to large scale projects. You should have received higher education in Information Technology and have proven experience ideally in a large financial institution with a diverse systems environment. Furthermore, you should have excellent skills in PeopleTools (Release 8.2+), PeopleSoft Administration, Unix (Sun Solaris), and Oracle, Unix shell. Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written, are also essential to this role.

• Control-m scheduling, batch design and analysis, construction and system testing
• Minor UNIX and NT batch design, code/scripting, review and implementation.
• Integration of all system elements utilising cross platform solutions and available third party tools
• Unix kron shell scripting
• Minor Sql Pl/sql programming
• Minor PeopleSoft Application Designer design and construction

Special Circumstances (eg shifts, travel overseas, hours):

There will be a requirement to work one week in three during the New London and York time ones of between 5:00pm – 2:00am and 1:00am – 10:00am SST on a rotational basis. There will also be a requirement to attend meetings or trainings outside of normal working hours from time to time. Finally there will be a requirement to provide 2nd line technical support weekends remotely as part of a global weekend coverage rota. Given the average team size this should be no more than 10 weekends per year.

Education And Professional Qualifications:
Essential Desirable
 Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline
 2+ years' working experience in PeopleSoft versions 8.0 and above working within the infrastructure and architecture area.
 Oracle/NT certifications
 Unix Administration
 Accounting education and experience a plus.


Work Experience/background:

 Experienced in systems engineering
 Strong PeopleSoft administration experience
 Good to excellent technical knowledge of PeopleSoft, Oracle, NT, Unix and Perl
 Experience in Batch Design & Scheduling (Control-M preferred)

 Excellent problem solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, Structured, methodical thinker
 Full understanding of project life cycle and development methodologies
 Ability to work in synergy with multiple teams of developers and business partners is highly essential.

 Previous banking experience.
 Previous experience providing 24x7 or FTSS support.
