Be a part of the Washington, DC Metropolitan area’s most knowledgeable and progressive Architectural Design firms by filling their need for a Sr. Cost Estimator at their Silver Spring, MD office.
The Sr. Cost Estimator will do quantity take-offs; develop trade scopes and assist with solicitation of subcontractor bids; as well as prepare bid packages, conceptual estimates, and analyze subcontractor bids. Ability to estimate more than one project at a time, willing to travel and work overtime when needed. Candidates should have experience in managing subcontractors as it pertains to their participation in preparing backup to a bid proposal and have the ability to read blueprints, manufacturer’s data sheets, fabrication and assembly drawings is required. Experience in low/mid and high-rise projects, plus other types of commercial construction including but not limited to Healthcare, Educational, Religious, Government, Office and Hospitality.
Working knowledge of building code, life safety issues, and building systems as they apply to conceptual estimating.
The Estimator will have a Bachelor’s degree in construction, architecture, or engineering with 7-10 year of experience and knowledge of cost estimating for various government agencies and risk analysis and value engineering is also required. Candidates should have a strong skill in the use of either the Timberline or MC2 estimating software and be proficient in MS Outlook, Excel and Word. Excellent planning and organizational abilities, high energy and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
