I have just come off the phone from speaking with Dr Areej Zawawi, the Owner and Curriculum Director of The School of Life in Jordan. The school started 3 years ago and she is currently looking to recruit 3 teachers who will ideally arrive in Jordan on the 12th August and start teaching on the 27th of August.
They are looking for a
Kindergarten Teacher
English teacher who will teach Year 5
French Teacher
(don't worry she will consider secondary trained teachers for these position too)
The most important aspects are that you have a teaching qualification, a soft English accent (English must be your first language) and be a fit, healthy and dedicated teacher.
This school is a private school and has a very conservative philosophy, so if you have a Mohawk, Blue hair, visible body piercing or smoke cigarettes, then this is not the place for you. The school is incredibly well resourced, there are 90 students and a 1:3 teachers : student ratio and no more that 14 students in your class at anyone time. The school is currently Kindergarten to Grade 6 but each year it will grow becoming a secondary school over time. The staff are international with 1*Irish, 3*Americans, 2*French, 2*Spanish and the rest are Jordanian.
Package:
Salary - $1400-$2200 American Dollars per month
Flights - Paid for by the school
Accommodation - 2 Bedroom apartment provided but you will have to share
Bills/Utilities (Gas, Electricity, Water etc) - These are not included
Health Cover - You will have access to the schools chosen medical practitioner's whilst there
Contract Length - Ideally 2 years but will take you for a single year contract
Start Date: 12th August 2007 (Students start 27th August)
In regard to living in Jordan, it is a cosmopolitan city with all modern facilities such as clubs, bars, etc
