Location: Osney Mead, Oxfordshire (OX2)
Type: Fulltime, Permanent

The Company
My client is the leading email marketing agency and email service provided in the Uk.
The Role
You will be joining a team of 2 developers (each with 7 years experience) who will be on hand to help develop your skills and guide your career within the company. This is a great opportunity to work on the web based systems that enable large household names like Tesco and the BBC to manage their email marketing campaigns to millions of customers. On a day to day level you will spend 70% of your time developing new functionality and making incremental improvements to our current systems, for the remaining 30% of your time you will provide bug fix support to our live systems.
Location:
You will be based in the companys Oxford office, which is just a healthy ten minute walk from the train station.
Your Background:
At least 1 years experience in a commercial web development role
A good humoured team player
Takes pride in his/her work
Able to thrive in a fairly pressurised environment
Ability to write object-orientated Perl code
Comfortable with SQL and basic database administration
Able to produce interfaces from scratch with HTML and Css
Personal Characteristics:
A self starter who is willing to learn new skills and take ownership of key projects.
Able to work with limited supervision and show initiative where appropriate, the individual should be confident, bright and happy to share and discuss ideas with others.
A good humoured team player, the ideal candidate will take pride in their work and be able to thrive in a fairly pressurised environment.
Essential Skills:
Minimum of 1 yr commercial web development experience in Perl, Html & Css
With some experience in JavaScript/AJAX
With some exposure to OO programming
Desirable Skills:
JavaScript experience
Python/Ruby/PHP knowledge
C programming skills
UNIX/Linux systems administration experience
Shell scripting with Perl or Bash
Experience with Template Toolkit
Experience with CVS or other source control systems
Graphic design abilities
Experience using or implementing SOAP or XML-RPC web services
Semantic HTML and CSS based layouts
Database administration experience, particularly PostgreSQL |
