Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer position reports to the Project Manager and is the main electrical technical support in infrastructure initiatives being carried out under the Shaw International activity in Shanghai, China.
To ensure that all works are carried out in accordance to client and Shaw International standards. Supervise contractor field personnel thus ensuring cost effective and efficient achievement of all works, ensure the project team obtains necessary resources to perform project objectives, Presence at site during installation to support and advise when required. Ensure that all works are installed to applicable code, specification and standard. Review design drawings prepare and compile schedule, report and as-built drawings.
Coordinate with the client, vendors and other field disciplines on project needs and requirement and requirements. Attend the weekly and monthly meetings as and when require. Supervises all activities relating to electrical construction projects and monitor contractor performance. Ensure that works are carried out safely and in line with HSE policy;
Senior Electrical Engineer design, plan, research, evaluate and test electrical and electronic equipment and systems.
Main Responsibilities And Tasks:
The Senior Electrical Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Responsible in the implementation, control and supervision of complete electrical system; raceways (exposed and underground), electrical equipments (HV, MV, LV switchgears and transformer, MMC, PLC, panel, control and starter), cable and termination. Conveyor and dock mobile hopper safety devices;
• Supervising field construction monitoring activities and providing technical guidance and expertise. Do shop and layout detailed drawings. Determines manpower requirements for the defined scope and schedule. Monitor and ensure construction meets specification, standard, and maintains quality control in the field. Preparation of construction procedure, detailed schedule and progress. Material take-off and estimate
• Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of electrical generation and distribution networks, electrical machinery and components and electronic communications, instrumentation and control systems, equipment, and components
• Prepare material cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for electrical and electronic systems and equipment
• Design electrical and electronic circuits, components, systems and equipment
• Supervise and inspect the installation, modification, testing and operation of electrical and electronic systems and equipment
• Develop maintenance and operating standards for electrical and electronic systems and equipment
• Prepares sketches and follows diagrams of concealed wiring. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assemble and installs electrical conduit and pulls wiring through
• Investigate electrical or electronic failures
• Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for construction or maintenance
• Supervise technicians, technologists, programmers, analysts and other engineers
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Pm.
Qualifications: (minimum Requirements)
Education: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or in a related engineering discipline is required. Master degree is desirable.
Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience in an equivalent position. Experience working in a similar position for a well-reputed construction company or an international organization is preferred. Must have willingness to travel to Shaw International field offices on Shaw business. Must also have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
SKILLS: Working knowledge of English, both written and spoken. Working knowledge of MS Office package. Knowledge of Engineering Software is clearly a plus, Able to communicate fluently effectively both verbally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team. Must also be able to create a supportive working relationship among all project teams.
Languages: Fluent knowledge of speaking and written English. Fluent in Mandarin.
GENERAL: Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
Willing to regularly conduct site visits to the project sites;
