| Job Description: |
Job Purpose & Scope:
1. To establish and maintain excellence in reservoir fluid sampling, standard analysis and enhanced oil recovery aspects along with, equation-of-state modeling, hydrocarbon solids characterization, coaching and mentoring UAE nationals and oversee all reservoir fluid characterization related activities throughout the company. Main job responsibilities are the following:
• Design company PVT programs including:
o Reservoir fluid sampling
o Reservoir fluid standard characterization
o Enhanced oil recovery fluid characterization for mixtures of reservoir oil and injected gas
o Hydrocarbon solids characterization (Asphaltene/Sulfuer/WAX PVT)
• Manage contracting, tendering and budgeting of company PVT programs.
• Monitor company advanced PVT programs.
• Develop Equation-of-State fluid description using measured PVT data.
• Implement derived EOS fluid description for initializing of compositional simulation models.
• Develop PVT expertise within company through:
o coaching and mentoring selected UAE nationals
o forming an company PVT community and coordinating regular meeting to discuss the company PVT related issues
o conducting PVT related internal seminars and short courses
• Manage multiple advanced PVT projects across the organization
2. Responsible for developing and managing the company EOR pilots/project initiatives and coordination of multi-function EOR business. This business includes:
• Advanced (EOR) PVT, Asphaltene PVT, SCAL (miscible/near miscible core flooding) and tuning EOS fluid descriptions and EOR research and development projects.
• Initiate EOR pilots/field projects and conceptual project modeling and design including reservoir development plan, monitoring, and process optimization solutions
3. Provide advanced PVT, EOS tuning and EOR technology transfer and training to RDD asset teams and UAE nationals.
Main Duties/Accountabilities:
Technical:
1. Reservoir Fluid Sampling (Black oil, volatile oil, condensate and heavy oil)
Strong background and proven track record in designing reservoir fluid sampling program based on company objectives and standards.
• Openhole/casedhole bottomhole sampling using formation test tools,
• Sampling during well intervention, and
• Sampling during well testing (surface sampling and bottomhole sampling)
2. Reservoir Fluid Characterization:
Design and implement reservoir fluid characterization programs through the exploration, appraisal and development phase:
• Fluid characterization program during openhole logging operation.
• Standard laboratory fluid characterization program to meet company requirements.
• Design improved oil recovery processes including water flooding, polymer flooding, emulsion flooding etc.
• Design enhanced oil recovery program including miscible/immiscible gas injection processes (slim tube, multi-contact, first contact, core flood experiments etc.) and thermal and/or unconventional recovery processes.
3. Hydrocarbon Solids Characterization:
Design, oversee and quality check all hydrocarbon solids characterization programs to suite company requirement:
• Detailed wax characterization program for surface facilities/pipelines.
• Detailed asphaltene and sulfur characterization.
4. Equation-of-State Modeling
Strong background in thermodynamics and tuning of equation-of state. Demonstrated skills in application of equation-of-state in describing the reservoir fluid characteristics and phase behavior characteristics as relates to enhanced oil recovery processes (gas injection etc.).
Minimum Requirements:
• M.S. or Ph.D. In Chemical/Petroleum or Related Engineering.
• 15 years varied experience in the oil industry including 4 years in leading and managing multi-disciplined staff within the petroleum development function, covering advanced PVT/EOR, EOS development, SCAL (miscible/near miscible core flooding). Good knowledge of computer applications and awareness of budgetary control and procedures.
• Dynamic, self motivated and excellent oral and written communication skills are must. Proficient in working with multi-disciplinary/multi-cultural team environment.
• Proven track record in technology application and transfer to operations.
• Demonstrated ability in coaching and mentoring new hires.
• Fluency in English
