DEVELOPER
Location: Paddington, London (NW1)
Salary: c. £30,000 - c. £40,000 dependent on experience
Type: Permanent
My client is the world’s largest direct retailer of custom made prescription glasses. Having been trading in the UK for three years and currently selling around 400 pairs of glasses a day. They are an exciting, up-and-coming brand, recently chosen as a “Brand to Watch” by the Superbrands council. Our stated aim is to do what Swatch did for watches by pricing glasses so that customers can afford to purchase a different pair of glasses for different occasions.
The company is now in search of a Developer to join them in their new office in Paddington, London. This is a Permanent role and they are offering a salary of £30-40K per annum plus benefits. The successful candidate will be be reporting to the IT Manager and working with the Lead Developer and User Experience Manager.
The Role
The company is now in search for an excellent all round developer to join our rapidly expanding development team. You will be:
• Developing core system functionality - from front-end web sales API and customer service tools to back-end product fulfilment and despatch systems
• Consulting with different areas of the business to ascertain requirements
• Providing ideas and input to design discussions and analysing business requirements
• Testing, integrating and maintaining system components
• Gaining a firm understanding of the technical resources behind the systems and how they can be harnessed for optimal availability and performance
Essential Skills
You will need:
• Proven strong OO and modular PHP and MySQL skills, especially using MySQL to generate web based functionality
• Prerequisite knowledge of (X)HTML, CSS, XML and other associated web technologies
• A strong grasp of JavaScript, including AJAX
• A firm grounding in LAMP technology and potentially administration
• Extensive familiarity with e-commerce systems and the three layer model (MVC) approach to programming with databases
• A keen grasp of database design and ER modelling
• The ability to investigate new technology and recommend new solutions as the business grows
• Has 3-5 years experience developing in an e-commerce environment |
