Our client, a significant ASX-Listed base metal production company is seeking a Study Manager who will support the strategy of quickly developing our client into a mid-tier producer by bringing the deposit into production within four years. Specifically by completing a scoping and prefeasibility study of a medium tonnage underground mine. In addition, complete a scoping study for a much larger size operation, which may be used at a later stage.

In this role for Scoping and Pre-feasibility Study you will be responsible for:

• Ensuring the study is completed within budget and on schedule
• Creating a culture for quality, thus ensuring the success of the project
• Managing the budget
• Championing the project and a strategic planning process
• Ensuring the projects’ progress, risks and opportunities are communicated to key stakeholders
• Awarding the tender to suitable engineering consulting firm
• Ensuring a smooth transition plan is in place between the finish of the pre-feasibility study and the commencement of the feasibility study

Your key responsibilities of Project Sponsor are:
• Prepare a project charter for the Project Manager, which enables them to develop a project scope, statement and subsequently, a project plan
• Manage the tender process for the scoping and pre-feasibility study
• Provide the Project Manager and team with information and resources to the extent necessary
• Ensure the projects’ progress, risks and opportunities are communicated to key stakeholders
• Act as Project Manager’s key communication link between key stakeholders and customers
• Ensure Project Manager and team are kept abreast of corporate strategies, other initiatives of changes that may impact the project team
• Remove barriers to project team progress, problem solving, acquisition of sources and cross-functional issues
• Review the on going performance of the Project Manager and project team members
• Receive and approve deliverables and ensuring sustained adherence to schedule and budget commitments
• Provide regular feedback to project team on performance versus expectations
• Recognise and reward the project team
• Develop documentation for the feasibility and construction tender
• Working with internal department resources

For this position you will need:

• Mining Engineering qualifications
• 10 years industry experience
• Proven project management skills (10 years)
• Ability to communicate in French and excellent verbal and written communication skills
