Data Centre Manager
Summary of Requirements
This Gibraltar-based Gaming Company requires a Data Centre Manager to take charge and own all aspects of production systems hardware, asset management, capacity planning and fulfilment. The role will include management of all vendor relationships that relate to systems hardware, including purchasing and maintenance. Previous experience of data centre management is essential. Physical handling of equipment and cabling will also be part of the role and you will own the processes for any changes which will occur in the production environment. Previous Cisco networking experience would be useful.
Essential Requirements
• Manage data centre supplier: contract, relationship, reviews
• Manage data centre hotsite issues (e.g., power, networking, server failure)
• Understanding of data centre services: network, power, cooling
• Physical handling of kit and cabling
• Capacity planning: physical space; system and resource loading
• Asset management
• Provide overall ownership of operational runbook (various parts contributed by others on team) - book kept complete and up-to-date
• Change management – equipment moves, obsolescence, replacement
• Equipment purchasing
• Maintain a near term tactical project plan and long term strategic roadmap for all data centre activities
• Administrate the out-of-hours support system; review and manage on-call expense
• Manage a set of supplier contracts
o Prepare terms for renegotiation
o Source new/replacement suppliers
o Chase down supplier issues
o Coordinate purchase of kit
o Make sure payments take place
o Get quotes, initiate Pos, track timely delivery, deal with customs issues
• Provide a management envelope for a production systems downtime event
• Networking background: Basic Cisco, Checkpoint networking skills; can manage a networking services supplier
