Job Purpose:
Providing consulting services on business risk management across the company. Promoting Business Risk Management and facilitating workshops and the application of Business Risk Management techniques across all business activities and to all levels within the company. To consult and facilitate ad-hoc risk analysis projects and other selected strategic activities.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Support the development and implementation of risk management policies, procedures, frameworks and techniques
• Implement and maintain systems for risk identification, analysis, reporting and risk treatments
• Promotes the awareness of Business Risk Management techniques. Implement change strategies to embed Risk Management concepts in day-to-day management of each unit and project. Develops organizational understanding about risk and controls.
• Prepares and presents reports
• Coaches management and employees in implementing risk management processes, techniques and best practices. Maintains advisory relationship with risk coordinators and project managers.
• Assist management with reviewing business practices to ensure better management of business and process risks. Advises management on process involvement opportunities by conducting reviews or process analysis
• Lead and manage review exercises to confirm risk levels
• Involved on committees and/or facilitates strategic corporate initiatives
• Lead, direct, and motivate the unit risk coordinators and risk champions in carrying out the functions of Business Risk Management (including planning, coordinating and directing the conduct of selected reviews and studies) and Process Analysis/Improvement
• Monitor the effectiveness of risk management and suggest improvements
• Initiates and supports training and performance appraisal of risk analysts/developees
• Maintain professional standards of work, keeps current with Risk Management best practices and use own professional judgment as and when required.
Work Contacts:
• Reports to Business Risk Management Team Leader
• Day to day involvement with team members and unit risk coordinators (normally team leaders)
• Regular interaction with other corporate departments in ensuring risk management incorporated in company processes, strategic planning and performance management functions.
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
• Matured, skilled professional that is able to interact with all levels within the company
• Bachelor degree in technical field. Masters Degree is desirable to attain sufficient appreciation for strategic concepts. Qualified P. Eng.
• 8 to 12 years experience: at least 3 of which were in auditing or risk management; and including several years of exposure to the oil and gas industry.
• Familiar with AS/NZS 4360/2004 Risk Management Standard
• Able to think strategically and understand matters of significance to the enterprise as a whole
• High level of understanding of business processes
• Able to organize, motivate and coach others to make changes
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills for clear communication with senior management
• A particular understanding of quality/continuous improvement tools and methodologies to apply within the organization to enhance long-term value
• A willingness to adapt to different business activities and question current practices
• Highly developed people skills to enroll and promote buy-in to corporate initiatives
• Ability to adapt to assignments of non-routine and non-repetitive nature
