Responsibilities:
Responsible for comprehensive risk management within the Asia Corporate Real Estate Business Unit (ACRE). This unit comprises principal investing and lending activities within the overall Asian region (principally, China, India, Japan, Korea and Taiwan). The SRO will partner with the ACRE market manager in the direction of all business activities. The SRO will work closely with underwriters and Client Managers associated with the business unit and will be responsible for the process of committing capital and portfolio/investment management. Closely partner with the RECM Group Risk Manager and ACREB market manager to oversee credit, principal investment, market, operational and compliance risk. Embrace best in class risk management practices and processes. Ensure timely and adequate monitoring and managing of ongoing risks (to include transaction risks, together with country/region economic, legal and political risks). Ensure that business practices conform to the company's core values, risk philosophy and objectives. Ensure that prompt action is taken where needed to minimize loss in deteriorating situations. Anticipate the impact of changes in market conditions on the existing loan and investment portfolio, to include recommendation of loan/investment dispositions and enforcement of portfolio limits. Oversee and monitor regulatory compliance. Maintain a satisfactory working relationship with internal auditors, Credit Risk Review and regulators. Research and be viewed as a resource of knowledge regarding industry and economic trends. Partner with Client Managers in determination and execution of relationship strategies. Assist in underwriting and internally sponsoring transactions. Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight/multi-day travel.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: 10-15 years of experience in real estate underwriting and structuring. Specific experience in corporate finance and structured finance highly emphasized. Strong background in evaluating, measuring and managing risk exposures arising from Capital Markets businesses and principal investments in commercial real estate. Superior judgment and analytical skills. Detail oriented. Ability to work effectively with others in potentially stressful situations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to persuade and influence outcomes amongst individuals with divergent goals. Strong decision making skills and personal conviction highly emphasized. Preferred: Proven experience building effective teams. Experience in client development roles. Strong quantitative skills, including familiarity with economic capital allocation tools and methodologies. |
