Title: **Batch Application Developer (C/SQL/UNIX)
This is an intermediate to senior level application development position. Working with the batch application development team to perform increasingly complex design and programming tasks. Requires interface with other group members both local and overseas. Continuously drive excellence in Software Development by introducing process improvements where appropriate. Support and maintain the development process and methodologies. Generate status reports, technical documentation, assist with development environment setup, perform peer reviews, maintain development deliverables in VSS, and assist with the planning of development schedules. Education / Experience Requirements: Bachelors degree (Preferably Computer Engineering or Computer Science).
Minimum of 3 years of software/systems UNIX based application development experience using C/Pro*C, Complex SQL and Teradata utilities is essential. Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
Candidate must be an accomplished individual contributor on a project team, with expertise in programming in a UNIX-based environment. Candidate will work closely with Project Manager and exhibit initiative and leadership, while providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced developers.
Strong technical background with minimum of 3 years application development experience using C, Embedded SQL, Teradata database, SQL and Utilities on UNIX based environment
Good working knowledge of Connectivity Tools, such as CLI, ODBC
etc.
Must have ability to work independently in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in English.
Knowledge of Data Warehousing tools, Data Modeling, JSP/Servlet, J2EE, EJB, JDBC, Visual Basic 6.0, ASP, HTML, Windows 95/Windows NT, SQL, ODBC an asset.
Good understanding of software functionality relative to retail merchandising process and other retail supply chain processes
Excellent analytical and design skills using a structured approach. Good understanding of the collecting data requirements of database and interface programs.
Good understanding of software development and version control methodologies
Excellent analytical and design skills using a structured approach such as UML and use-case analysis.
Good understanding of entire development process, including specification, coding and quality assurance. Aware of programming development issues as they impact the overall project plans.
Thorough understanding of technology issues relative to software development
Demonstrated ability to successfully implement software including compiling, executing and debugging applications
Knowledge of or work experience Retail Demand Chain Management Systems.
Key areas of Responsibility:
1. Analyze User Requirements to produce technical design and perform application development and testing to meet the user and design requirements.
2. Conducts the unit testing and integration testing for functionality and performance.
3. Researches problems discovered by QA and business group and develop solutions to the problems.
4. Produce technical documentation of product sub-systems.
5. Participates in product design meetings with project managers and other senior team members.
6. Provides implementation and maintenance support of multiple DCM product modules/sub 6 systems.
7. Encourage productivity within the team and assists junior team members as necessary.
8. Participate in peer reviews. 9. Assist in organizing the application development tasks/activities and processes.
