| Job Description: |
Primarily responsible for performing simple to complex DB2 dba jobs on AIX/Unix environment. Candidates with knowledge and ability to perform dba duties in multiple database platforms such as DB2, and Oracle and Sql Server will be preferred. Responsible for designing, creating, maintaining, performance tuning of DB2, Oracle and SQL Server 2005 databases. Candidate should be able to designs and code simple to complex database structures from data models. Provides support in database usage, and database performance. Candidate is experienced in shell/perl scripting in the Unix environment and is able to easily automate jobs. Is experienced in analysis, design, coding and tuning of complex SQL, and database code objects (stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions). Investigates database problems and resolves. Conducts design reviews as required to insure database design meets application requirements. Reviews and enforces adherence to standards of database design and usage. Is familiar with Internet technologies, including JAVA, XML, etc. Designs, maintains, documents and executes database utilities. Remains current on rapidly changing technology and seeds appropriate application at BNSF. Enhances professional skill currency and proficiency. Cross-trains other dba’s. Performs other duties as assigned |
| Skills Required: |
Five or more years experience as a DB2 DBA on AIX/Unix. Experience in supporting multiple database environments is preferable – such as DB2 and SQL Server DBA, OR DB2 and Oracle dba on AIX. Candidate must have experience implementing, and managing large DB2, Oracle and SQL Server 2005 databases Working experience of high availability technologies in DB2, Oracle and SQL Server 2005 is desirable. Knowledge of windows or perl scripting to automate dba tasks. Candidate must possess skills in database performance monitoring, tuning, monitoring tools and tuning procedures is required. Possesses knowledge of the complex, heterogeneous infrastructure of Internet, Intranet and Extranet. Functional experience in the development of railroad application systems would be desirable. |
