(position of the person to whom the position will report to) General Manager- Project Engineering
Responsible For
(which many employees report to the post) Discipline lead engineers will report to the Project Engineer on a nominated project or proposal for all project related activities including engineering integrity, co-ordination, quality, cost and time.
With regard to functional technical supervision, discipline and manning suitability in the various disciplines, the Lead Engineers reports to the Departmental Managers of the discipline concerned. The Project Engineer will liaise with the Departmental Managers on these matters.
Summary
Responsibility for ensuring that a project or proposal is engineered to programme, within the approved man-hour budget.
A Project Engineer will be appointed for all contracts and proposals being processed by Operations Department.
DUTIES Exercising control of technical documents / standards received from clients and distributing them as necessary to engineering disciplines.
For proposals, establishing the technical bid strategy with the Sales Manager, for subsequently ensuring that each discipline is fully aware of their involvement in the proposal and for ensuring that the final proposal reflects to agreed strategy.
Ensuring the engineering departments provide the necessary date for the establishment of the proposal / project programme and, once produced, the programme is adhered to with respect to the production of engineering information.
Ensure that all engineering department input to iron and steel plant projects and proposals is co-ordinated by the lead project engineers in accordance with Company strategy.
Ensure that inputs to engineering department from process department, construction department and other departments are of the required standard and meet the requirements of the project.
Ensure that the information from engineering department to other departments in the Company is of the requisite standard.
Ensure that liaison and negotiation with nominated sub-contractor suppliers of major process packages is carried out by a responsible person and that high professional standards are maintained.
Ensure that the engineering on a proposal / project is carried out in accordance with the correct standards and norms.
