Job Description:
Potential candidates will be responsible for ensuring the design integrity of the projects and that all pages reflect the chosen design and concept. He/she will have excellent technical skills as well as an eye for design.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the administration of Solaris and Red Hat servers.
· Assist in the planning, implementation and maintenance of new Windows OS servers.
· Assist in the training and mentoring of junior System Administration staff.
· Contribute to documentation of managed systems, software applications, processes and procedures.
· Participate in the planning and implementation of new systems and upgrades to existing systems.
· Responsible and accountable for the management of projects.
· Evaluate hardware and software products.
· Automate routine tasks using Perl.
· After Hours on call duties
· Managing and maintaining production systems that are required to have 24x7x365 availability
· Schedule and perform maintenance upgrades on responsible systems
Qualifications:
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing purchase justifications, training users in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience, interacting positively with management, and solid planning skills.
· Independent problem solver
· Self-motivated and self-directed
· Proficient in Solaris and Red Hat administration, operation, hardware, OS and software installation and configuration, fundamentals of system security.
· Solid understanding of UNIX-based operating systems, Solaris and Red hat; understands boot process and run levels, paging and swapping, inter-process communication, functions of devices and device drivers and file system concepts.
· Proficient in Windows OS administration, maintenance, installation, configuration and fundamentals of Windows OS system security.
· Working knowledge of TCP/IP networked environments; configuring network interfaces, routing table, PDC, NFS and DNS configuration and basic network troubleshooting.
· Advanced understanding of Apache, NIS/NIS+, DNS, NFS, Send Mail, LDAP, BIND and MySQL.
· Three to five years system administration experience in a networked Unix/Linux environment with at least 2 yrs Windows server administration
· Knowledge of Windows Server 2000 and 2003
· At least two years experience in a mission-critical environment with 24x7 uptime requirement
· Experience writing Perl for administrative tasks or web-based applications a major plus
· Experience writing and maintaining documentation
· Experience training and mentoring staff a major plus
· Experience With Asterisk Open Source Pbx
Education:
· Bachelors degree in computer science or science/engineering related field strongly desired, but not required.
