Mechanical Technician II
Position Requirements:
• Competent in the use of various hand and shop tools found in the test laboratory.
• Knows and understands the needs and usage of different sizes and types of tubing.
• Can properly flare and bend standard tubing. I.E. Stainless, copper.
• Knows and understands pipe sizes and their threads.
• Understand the uses and nomenclature of the various types valves (manual and electronic) used in the test lab.
• Can properly set up gas bottles for use to include selecting correct regulator and pressure gauges.
• Be able to work effectively in team situations, as well as on a one-to-one basis.
• Rig and operate hoists, winches and other gear used in the test lab.
• Know the hazards and safe handling practices associated with solid propellants, initiators, and other pyrotechnic devices used in the test lab.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Understand the basic operation of test lab firing systems, their safety features and how to connect pyrotechnic devices to it for testing.
• Understand and follow company safety practices and TODs.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating procedures and maintenance instructions.
• Able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing, quickly and effectively.
• Able to prepare routine correspondence on a limited basis quickly and clearly.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Familiar with algebra and trigonometry
• Must have a basic understanding of instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Must be able to provide mechanical test support in the assembly and operation of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic devices and systems tests
• Must be capable of deleveloping skills to assist instrumentation technicians with the set up and calibration of pressure transducers, accelerometers, load cell and other type of sensors. Must be able to develop skill to safely build up solid propellant gas generators.
• Must be able to obtain DOT CDL License within one (1) year of hire date.
• Must be able to obtain State of WA Blasters License within two (2) years of hire date.
Education Requirements:
High school graduate with one (1) year technical training/school preferred.
Additional course work towards associates degree (AA) in Electro mechanical systems desired.
