CILab seeks proactive and talented young post-doctoral researchers with proven track record of publications in leading international journals and conferences. Candidates should be creative, have the ability to carry out independent research and interact within an international research team. We are interested in individuals with excellent communication and leadership skills, able to effectively collaborate with fellow colleagues and contribute to the visibility of the Lab in the international scientific community.
The Lab at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona provides an exciting environment for graduates/postdoctoral fellows/PhD students.

Our research focuses on algorithmic and applied research in the area of computational imaging, modelling and simulation. In particular, medical image segmentation, statistical shape modelling and analysis, computational geometry, pattern recognition and image-based and personalised computational mechanics.
Job Description
CILAB is searching for scientific developers for immediate incorporation to participate in different projects.
These projects consist in the development of software platforms for studying cardiovascular and brain diseases. These platforms include functionalities like:
Advanced biomedical data processing (involving image processing, mathematical models and numerical methods, data visualization, etc.).
- Information representation for visual analysis.
- Integration of mentioned tools to be used in medicine and scientific environments.
- Biomedical data recollection and integration (images, etc.). |
| Skills Required: |
Attitude and characteristics of the candidate
The candidate must have:
- Knowledge of computer graphics.
- Fluently spoken English (as is the standard language in the lab).
- Graduation in Biomedical, mechanical, electrical engineering or equivalent (undergraduate only if within four months of the end of the course).
- Advanced skills in numerical methods (one or more of Finite Element, Finite Difference, Finite Volume, etc.), mainly in biomedical simulations.
- Skills in C++ and Object Oriented Programming, and/or Fortran.
Candidates with one or more of the following items will be preferred:
- Experience with VTK, ITK, DCMTk.
- Experience with version control environments (cvs, svn, etc.).
- High performance computing and parallel processing (e.g., Grid computing, multiprocessor shared memory, etc).
- Advanced knowledge of development environments in Linux and Windows.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (CMake).
