New Canadians' Centre of Excellence Inc., Job Search Workshops for Newcomers Program requires a Francophone Employment Counsellor/Job Search Workshop Facilitator.

The Employment Counsellor/Facilitator will work as a critical part of the Employment Team, focusing delivering a structured Job Search Workshops Program, developing action plans with newcomers to Canada, assessing their skills, provide them with career/employment counselling and referrals, matching them with employment opportunities and case managing client files. The Job Search Workshops for Newcomers is an Ontario-wide intervention, funded through Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Responsibilities:
Provide group sessions, counselling and follow-up to 180 participants/year
Plan and conduct Outreach/Presentation activities with community groups, education and training institutions, government sites and community organizations
Conduct needs assessment, develop action plan and follow-up with clients and employers
Provide specialized group sessions for job seekers and employers
Provide employment/career counseling, guidance and assistance to job seekers
Provide links between eligible clients and resources in the community, training/upgrading programs, social services, and government programs
Maintain detailed and accurate written records and documentation
This is a full-time, contract position
Starting date: Immediately
Extended benefits after three months
Fluency in French is required
Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience delivering Job Search Workshops.

Skills Required:: |
Qualifications:
Post secondary education in human/social services and/or a combination of education and experience
Work experience in career development field focusing on client outreach, group facilitation, individual employment/career counselling and portfolio development
Knowledge of' current labour market trends and labour laws
Knowledge of general and employment/licensing related issues/barriers faced by immigrants
Experience working with immigrants, internationally educated professionals/trades people and visible minorities
Excellent written, verbal and presentation English language skills, and fluency in French is required
Self-directed and result oriented
Able to work in a team environment
Proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook , Internet and email, as well as some experience with Database Management and reporting required.
Knowledge of community services
Group facilitation and conflict resolution skills
Demonstrated knowledge of anti-racism and cultural sensitivity awareness
Flexible schedule including some evenings and/or Saturday
Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
