| Job Description: |
As a Geomechanics Specialist you will be a multi-disciplinary team member contributing to areas including stress modeling, wellbore stability analysis, fracture permeability assessment, fault seal analysis, sand production prediction, reservoir compaction study, pore pressure prediction and stimulation design.
Projects will include drilling optimisation, well trajectory planning, sand management, produced water and cuttings injection, compaction drive and subsidence modeling, stimulation and fracture conductivity optimisation. This can be part of a single well analysis or a full field development.
You will have approximately 5-10 years experience with an operator or consultancy and will have probably moved into Geomechanics from one of the other core disciplines such as Petrophysics, Geology, Geophysics and Engineering. Alternatively applications from R&D professionals working in material science and rock mechanics looking to move into a consultancy role are welcome. Experience of numerical and laboratory testing is desirable. You will be working alongside industry experts in all petroleum related disciplines.
Geotechnical/Civil Engineers wishing to be move across to the oil and gas industry are also encouraged to apply.
Ideally you will have some experience in the following areas but where necessary full expert training is available:
Log derived rock mechanics properties
Rock stress modeling
Wellbore stability analysis
Sand prediction
Reservoir compaction
Stimulation design
Drilling optimization
Numerical rock modeling
Experimental rock testing
Well site operations
In addition you will have the ability to work on your own initiative and possess good written and verbal communication skills. Opportunities will be available to move into business management and development roles for suitable candidates.
You will be educated to at least degree level in Geoscience, Science, Engineering or Mathematics. Additional degree level studies are welcome.
Positions are available in Aberdeen, London, Kuala Lumpur and Perth.
