Requirements
Education
A Bachelors degree is required, and a Masters degree, Engineering or other Technical field, is desired.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of strategic procurement and commodity management experience.
Have comprehensive understanding of low cost country sourcing in global commodity management.
Possess exceptional knowledge of project management and cross-functional team leadership.
Have expertise in strategic sourcing analysis and implementation.
Have experience in driving aggressive implementation plans and schedules.
Possess thorough understanding of MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project).
Have familiarity with effective problem solving and multi-tasking.
JDE experience is desired.

Position: Direct Commodity Manager
This company is a provider of stored electrical energy solutions and a manufacturer of lead acid batteries, which are used in transportation, motive power, network power and military applications.
Reporting Relationships:
The Direct Commodity Manager will report to the Senior Director of Procurement.
Responsibilities:
The Direct Commodity Manager is the focal point for the development of commodity and sourcing strategies. He/she has the responsibility to identify, qualify and utilize suppliers capable of meeting the companys cost, quality and delivery requirements, as well as ensure the inclusion of minority, woman and disabled-owned businesses in its competitive supplier selection process.
Define Commodity objectives and strategies.
Maintain knowledge of market conditions and trends of components. Develop alternative sources as necessary, ensuring continuity of supply, quality and competitive pricing.
Work with Engineering to gain familiarity with the end use of commodities procured for new projects.
Participate in new product development teams.
Establish and develop relationship with suppliers and key organizations.
Maintain inventory levels to provide good asset turnover consistent with efficient support of production activities and purchasing economies.
Select suppliers, assess supplier capabilities, evaluate supplier performance, and negotiate price, delivery and terms.
Identify situations / opportunities / issues / market conditions and economic indicators, including upcoming contract expiration, and plan actions to realize cost reductions and process improvements on an ongoing basis.
Lead Commodity team in building baseline contracts, insuring contract completeness and accuracy for implementation success.
Drive strategic sourcing and negotiation strategies.
Milestones: Six Months
Attain spend consolidation and good understanding of global spend.
Develop and implement strategic sourcing plan.
Design risk management strategy.
Milestones: First Year
Implement savings of 8% over the total commodity spend monthly results are expected.
Reduce SKU 10%.
Achieve 15% supplier rationalization.
Improve payment terms.
Reduce inventory $1.5 Million.
