| Job Description: |
Atmospheric Perils Specialist (westchester County) White Plains, NY USA - must be in US and legally eligible to work in US F/T for any employer.
Requirements
•advanced degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, wind engineering or a related discipline
•Demonstrated superior problem recognition/definition, analytical and solving skills
•Knowledge of probability and statistics
•Strong PC and software skills (programming a plus - Java, SQL, Matlab)
•Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
•Demonstrated ability to make decisions utilizing sound judgment
•Strong willingness to work in a team as well as work independently
•Ability to effectively manage own time and priorities
•Highly motivated individual with a flair for applying knowledge of science and engineering to solve insurance/risk transfer problems
Essential Responsibilities
• Understand and evaluate the wind related hazards specific to North, Central, and South America
• Assist or lead in developing probabilistic risk assessment models for atmospheric perils
• Provide support to the company underwriters in understanding and pricing natural catastrophe risk
• Act as a liaison between the scientific community and our company.
Ancillary Responsibilities
•Represent Global organization (employer) at various client and industry events
•Stay abreast with the latest developments in atmospheric science and wind engineering
•Knowledge of catastrophe modeling technology
Physical Demands
Some 2 to 6 weeks of travel per annum required
Some German or Spanish a plus. |
