Position Purpose
The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for:
The technical direction, design, and Engineering of
DC Power System Solutions.
The Quality Control Process
Technical compliance
Technical Support of the Selling and Tender
processes
Product Cost reduction process
Performance Indicators:
Success in the role will be measured by;
Achievement of project milestones.
Field failure rates
Compliance with technical regulations
Achievement of product cost reduction targets
Response time to Customer Enquiries
Ability to contribute to new systems design initiatives
Ability to contribute to cost reduction initiatives
Responsibilities:
Systems Engineering
From customer requirements, develop and
maintain a Technical Systems Road map.
Develop market requirements and design
specifications for new systems and new modules
Manage the System Design and Prototyping
Define and manage Product and component
specifications.
Technical overview of the production process
Assess the technical competencies of suppliers
Technical training for customers
Develop the in-house technical infra structure
necessary to achieve production cost and quality
targets
Prepare and maintain accurate bill of materials for
each product and sub-assembly
Quality Control
Technical overview of the quality control process to ensure that quality standards for components and finished product are achieved
Technical Compliance
Maintain a detailed and accurate understanding of regulations that influence the design and construction of DC Power Systems. This will include differences that may occur between export markets.
Technical overview of the design process to ensure designs comply with all relevant regulations
Technical overview of the quality control process to ensure that compliance testing procedures are effective.
Management of the product certification process
Application Engineering
Manage the application Engineering response to Marketing/Sales
Develop product specifications from customer requirements
Technical support of the tender responses
Customer & site visits to provide engineering support
Cost Reduction
Maintain a detailed knowledge of new products/technology and identify cost reduction opportunities
Review of product specifications and revision of specifications to reduce product component costs
Technical overview of the Purchasing process to achieve cost reduction targets
Technical overview of the design process to achieve cost targets
Technical overview of production to streamline processes and reduce cost
Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials costings
Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
• At least two years work experience in DC Power System Engineering

Skills Required:: |
Skills and Abilities:
Mechanical Design knowledge
Excellent communication and organisation skills
Self motivated, organised and project driven
Understanding of Telecommunications network operating principles would be an advantage. Prior experience with DC Power Engineering in the Telecommunications industry is a distinct advantage
Some experience in Technical Sales would be an advantage but not mandatory
The Senior Systems Engineer should have a good working knowledge of a CAD system
A working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word, Viso, VSS, Excel,
Organization
The Senior Systems Engineer will report to the Director
Languages
The Senior Systems Engineer must be fluent in English
