This leading Organisation is seeking a Head of Information Systems Project Planning for a permanent role based in Qatar.
The Head of Project Planning must rely on the strategy sections advice for direction setting decisions, developing roadmaps for all IT projects of the corporation.
The incumbent performs duties that mainly involve IT projects planning, utilizing resources, designing portfolio and coordinating with sections/departments. The Head of Project Planning reports to the Technology and Strategic Panning Manager of HIS.
Applying latest project planning technology to all IT projects.
Develop and manage project schedules for all IT projects of the corporation.
Ensure the best use of corporation's IT resources by assigning tasks of the projects to appropriate section/team.
Work directly with vendors (if necessary).
Ensure the project plan is comprehensive and addresses all the key requirements
Evaluate existing plans to ensure growth and profitability and make adjustments as necessary.
Document project planning according to international standards.
Demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Perform a variety of tasks. Lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Rely on the section heads for input and participation as required.
Expected to monitor and advice the leadership team on slippage, potential barriers.
Work with external integrators/consultants in planning large projects.
To apply you will possess a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field (Masters Degree preferred).
Minimum of 10 years experience in IT with concentration on IT Project Planning and Project Management. Must be from a healthcare or major IT supplier background with a strong emphasis on project planning.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective organisational, time management and planning skills with strong leadership and management skills.
Strong background and experience with IT project planning.
Set project budgets and schedules, coordinate with other department heads / managers, build standards, prepare and review RFI / RFP / vendor proposals when needed.
Work as a department liaison between consultants/vendors, IT, and other planning executives.
Responsible for scheduling resources and executing tasks against plans in the context of Project Management Processes, Change Management and other IS processes.
Partner with other HIS groups to ensure communication and resource requirements are effectively coordinated for priority initiatives.
Work closely with business partners to ensure business needs are met and strong working relationships are maintained.
Work with many different resources across the HIS sections to support team initiatives.
Participate in the recruitment and hiring of new associates.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of information systems technology to continually improve information systems processes.
Provide senior management with updates on current vs. future IT project plans.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively manage and facilitate large cross-functional tasks and projects
Project management experience with skills for managing large, cross-functional project teams.
Demonstrate proficiency using MS Office, MS Project or other project management tools.
Overall technology experience that includes evaluating, purchasing and implementing technologies such as Healthcare software applications, workflow and reporting tools, hardware and software.
